There will be two separate training days available – aimed at differing levels of experience in hernia surgery.
The first day will compromise of a fresh frozen cadaver based course on Rives-Stoppa incisional hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction. We have faculty from the board of the British Hernia Society along with other experienced surgeons in hernia surgery. The day will be held at the University of Edinburgh on the 7th November. The course is aimed at trainee surgeons (ST3 to ST8 level). The cost will be £150. There will be 18 places available. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The second training day will compromise of observed live operating in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. This will be based upon observed cases with Mr Andrew de Beaux and Mr Bruce Tulloh. The cases will be on complex incisional hernia repair with illustration and discussion of the peritoneal flap procedure. This course will be aimed at experienced surgeons in hernia surgery; principally Consultant and Associate specialist surgeons. There will be 8 places available. The cost will be £250. There will be a subsidised meal on the evening of 6th November (after the conference) for all attendees of the training days. Accommodation/other expenses will not be provided.
