11th Conference of the British Hernia Society

2nd and 3rd of November 2020

International Conference Centre Wales, Newport, South Wales

It will be a great privilege and honour to welcome you and our sponsors to the International Conference Centre Wales for the 11th conference of the British Hernia Society on the 2nd and 3rd of November 2020.

As you know, the Society’s aim has always been to promote safe, effective and high-quality hernia surgery aimed particularly at busy general surgeons and their trainees. The theme of this year’s meeting is Improving our patients’ outcomes after hernia surgery and you can see from our programme that we have a wide range of topics for discussion. Whilst you may not consider yourself a specialist hernia surgeon, we have attracted well recognised specialist colleagues from the UK and many European countries. Their knowledge and experience is well worth listening to!

Over recent times there has been increasing concern about the ‘harm’ of mesh and we are all aware of certain campaigns regarding this issue. With this in mind we have devoted a full session to post herniorrhaphy groin pain and are delighted that Dr David Chen from the Lichtenstein Hernia Centre will speak and demonstrate how this can be avoided and managed if it were to occur to one of your patients whether the repair was originally an open or a laparoscopic one. He is certainly the world’s expert on this thorny issue and this alone is a good reason to attend!

We promise you an educational and enjoyable event. Please note the date in your diary and encourage your trainees and colleagues not to miss this conference. We look forward to meeting you all in Newport, S Wales this November. The program is on the website and more details will follow. The closing date for abstracts is the 1st September 2020.
