Hernia Surgery Delphi project

The Scottish Surgical Research Group (SSRG) in collaboration with the British Hernia Society have launched a Delphi process to identify the highest priority areas in future hernia surgery research. A trainee led collaborative, the SSRG has broad experience in Delphi methodology and national collaborative research projects.

Research prioritisation can help identify clinically relevant questions and encourage high-quality, patient-centred research. Delphi methodology aims to develop consensus opinion within a group of experts, with recent Delphi projects helping to define the research agenda and funding within several medical and surgical specialties.

Conducted over three rounds, research questions will be collected during the first round, before subsequent prioritisation by the membership to provide a final list of highly ranked research questions. We invite and welcome the contributions of patient stakeholders in this process. Patients are also encouraged to part in this study.
