As a society we wish to express our deep sorrow for the passing of our longest serving sovereign in history, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022).
She inspired not only our nation but the far reaches of all the realm as well as the world. She came to the throne at the aftermath of World War II and since that difficult time has overseen many transitions in our society over the last 70 years. She was everyone’s Queen, and I am sure you will all remember her in your own special ways, with fond memories knowing that she brought so much to so many people. She was a keen supporter of our profession with her notable presence at all the Royal Colleges over the years, not forgetting her unequivocal affection for the NHS.
May Her Majesty rest in peace and as a Society we devote our honourable service to our new sovereign, his majesty King Charles III.
