Mr Dimitrios Damaskos, FRCSEd, FEBSEmSurg, FACS, is a Consultant General Surgeon in Edinburgh with specialist expertise in emergency surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction. Appointed at NHS Lothian in 2017 following a fellowship in Emergency General Surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, he combines a busy clinical practice with major roles in surgical education and leadership. He serves as Director of Conferences for the British Hernia Society, Director of the Scientific Programme for the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, Vice President of the World Society of Emergency Surgery, and as a member of the International Relations Committee of the American College of Surgeons, shaping both national and international surgical agendas.
