She has a strong interest in hernia surgery, particularly abdominal wall reconstruction, and has presented widely at hernia conferences and courses. As a member of the Biomesh Study Group in 2015, she contributed to several publications and co-authored a consensus review on the use of biologic and biosynthetic meshes in defined clinical settings.
Nasra is also actively engaged in academia and research. She completed a PhD at the University of Manchester, where her work focused on the relationship between type 2 diabetes and cancer mortality and survival. She has expertise in managing large-scale datasets and performing complex statistical analyses—skills that are highly relevant to her ongoing involvement with hernia registry development and data evaluation.
She remains active in the academic community as a member of the Junior Editorial Board for Colorectal Disease, regularly reviewing manuscripts for publication.
As Joint Chair of the BHS Trainee Subcommittee and a member of the Registry Subcommittee, Nasra is dedicated to advancing hernia surgery through trainee engagement, collaborative research, and the continual improvement of national data quality.
