Tom Whitehead-Clarke

Tom is a senior trainee from the South London Deanery with clinical interests in benign Upper GI Surgery and complex hernia surgery as well as robotics. He studied his PhD in Tissue Engineering at University College London, investigating the development of 3D models of the human rectus sheath. His work attracted multiple research grants from both the British Hernia Society and European hernia Society. His work has also been awarded international research presentation prizes by both organizations. He has a number of peer- reviewed research papers in the fields of both tissue engineering and hernia surgery, most notably helping to author the European Hernia Society Incisional hernia Guidelines in 2024.
