Director of Patient and Public Liaison
Srinivas Chintapatla is a consultant colorectal and abdominal wall hernia surgeon at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. He is also a Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School.
He has been doing complex ventral hernia surgery from 2004 when he was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon at York Hospitals and a Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School. He established the York Abdominal Wall Unit and developed a MDT team which includes two plastic surgeons, two lower GI surgeons and a bariatric surgeon. The team offers specialist Complex Abdominal Wall Reconstruction and is interested in creating efficient pathways and has published on the York pathway for AWR.
He is keen on research on Quality of Life in patient affected by Complex Abdominal Wall Hernia, supervises MD thesis students and has published on this aspect. He is also keen on basic collagen research which he collaborates with Dept of Physics and Biology at University of York. He is developing collaborative prehabilitation services in AWR. He is involved in running Cadaveric simulation courses on AWR and in courses teaching “Small Stitch”.
He is passionate about developing patient information and has developed several leaflets to support patients in this complex journey of Abdominal Wall Hernia management.
